At The Peak, we believe that much of the work of discipleship – of actually following Jesus – happens when we are able to connect with God and with one another in smaller groups. These groups are made up of friends who will be able to grow in faith alongside one another, serve in the church and in the world, care for one another, and enjoy life together. As you adjust to changes and different seasons in life, your small group can be a constant for you, keeping you grounded in friendship and faith.

We want to help you find your people! The Peak Church launches new small groups every spring & fall; however, if you are interested in joining a small group outside of those times or have any questions about small groups, please contact Pastor Amanda at amanda@peakumc.org.

Grow in Faith

Each small group should offer opportunities for its members to grow in faith. This should happen alongside or in addition to worship attendance, or attendance at various classes offered. Growing in faith can include:

  • Engaging sermon series discussion questions (provided regularly by Pastor Amanda to small group leaders)
  • Choosing a book of the Bible to read through and study
  • Choosing a Bible study book to guide scripture reading
  • Choosing another kind of book to read through together
Serve

Each small group discern what service looks like for them. Jesus said, “I did not come to be served but to serve, and to give my life as a ransom for many.” Serving can look like:

  • Serving on a ministry team together at The Peak (i.e. greeting/ushering)
  • Serving together with one of The Peak’s mission teams (i.e. bike ministry)
  • Serving together outside of the church with a local organization
Care

Small groups provide ample opportunities for members to care for one another in meaningful ways and support one another throughout different seasons of life. This becomes more and more important as our church continues to grow! Caring can look like:

  • Celebrating a new, exciting season of life (birthday, new job, new baby, adoption, retirement, etc.)
  • Offering support during hard times (medical recovery, loss, etc.)
  • Continually praying for one another between meetings
Enjoy

Small groups create an atmosphere in which members can become close friends. These meetings should feel less like class and more like hanging out with friends! Find ways to enjoy one another’s company, and enjoy doing life together. Enjoying can look like:

  • Eating together (when you are able to meet in person/safely share food)
  • Having fun together (i.e. meeting for mini-golf instead of Bible study one week)
  • Making time to socialize and chat about life at each meeting
