Frequently Asked Questions
How many outdoor services will there be each Sunday? To start, we are going to host just one service at 10 am. If interest grows, we will consider adding more!
Will I still be able to worship online? Yes, online worship is here to stay at The Peak even after COVID is gone! In concert with Outdoor Worship, we will continue to host online worship services via thepeak.online.church each Sunday at 9am and 11am. Or you can tune in anytime via YouTube!
Will there be live music and preaching? Yes! Each Sunday, you will be able to sing along and hear an inspiring message in person!
What about communion? That is the other good news! We will be able to move back to our monthly rhythm of taking communion together as well. In attempts to maintain everyone’s health and safety, we will continue using the communion packets we’ve distributed in the past during Drive-In services.
Will I need to wear a mask? Following State and CDC guidelines regarding masks, masks are no longer required for fully vaccinated people. However, if you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, please do!
Will I have to register to attend Outdoor Worship? To ensure that we have enough space on Sunday mornings, we ask everyone to reserve their spot online. Our registration form offers you the ability to reserve your spot several weeks at a time. Simply select the weeks you want to attend and supply the additional information requested. Register here!
If for some reason you are unable to attend, simply cancel your reservation on Event Brite. However, if you have issues with that, please email communications@peakumc.org and let us know which dates you need to cancel so that we can open your spot to someone else!
Where will I park? Check out the map below! Everyone will park in the Thales parking lot and we will close the driveway into The Peak. Reason being, we have arranged the seating area throughout our parking lot for the worship service. If you are coming from downtown Apex (driving north), drive past The Peak and make your first right into the Thales Academy entrance. If you are coming from Hwy 64 (driving south), turn left into Thales Academy and you will see signs directing you where to go from there!

Where will we sit? Do I need to bring my own chair? Yes, please plan to bring lawn chairs with you. That said, we will have extras in case you forget. You may now sit wherever you like, as we know that with the increased temperatures bring a need for shade.
So…I have kids. Are they welcome? What will you have to offer them? YES! We have designed these outdoor services with kids and families in mind. Each service, there will not only be activity kits for the younger ones, but each worship service will contain activities to engage the whole family! After we sing and before the sermon, we will dismiss children to our supervised Free Play Zone on the playground, which will be equipped with volunteers who can watch them while they play. We just ask that children wear a mask when they are not in their pod. Additionally, in order to maintain Safe Sanctuaries policies, if your child needs a diaper change or to use the restroom, we will come get you so that you can handle those needs.
What about my older children? We have a Youth Zone for rising 6th-12th graders. Located to the left of the stage, the Youth Zone will have snacks and drinks. Unvaccinated youths should wear a mask.
Will any bulletins be distributed? How can I access the lyrics and liturgy? As you approach the parking lot, you will be greeted by a masked Welcoming Team member who will point you to the basket where you can find both a bulletin and children’s ministry materials. The bulletin will contain the song lyrics and liturgy for the morning.
It’s getting hot outside. Will there be access to water? We will have a drink station set up with water, sodas, and juice.
What if I need to use the bathroom? Bathrooms will be available for use. You’ll notice signs in front of the church directing you to the Men’s and Women’s rooms via the side doors. If you are looking at the stage, women will enter from the door to the left (road side) and men to the right (playground side). This will allow us to space people out along the hallway using floor markers. We ask that only two people inhabit the bathroom at one time. Since the main entrance will be blocked with audio equipment, simply exit the way you came.
How long will the outdoor service last? We want to be mindful of the fact that some of you are bringing your kids and the temperature outside will only increase as the summer progresses. Thus, our goal is to limit each service to no longer than 60 minutes.
What will we do if it rains? If there is rain, we will make a decision on whether or not to host the service by 7:00 am on Sunday morning. We will notify you via email, our phone tree and the Facebook Virtual Lobby that worship will be happening online only that day. To join the phone tree, text “Start” to 919-629-1037. If you are not a member of our Virtual Lobby, join here.
This is great…but when are we going to worship inside? Due to a planned (and much needed) expansion in our lobby this summer, our plan is to re-open indoors in the late summer to early fall timeframe!
