Christian nationalism is one of the greatest dangers facing the American church today because it distorts both our democratic values and the teachings of Jesus. How do we, as citizens of heaven (Phil 3:20), resist the temptation to fuse our religious and national identities? How do we balance our love for this country and our desire to seek its welfare (Jer 29:7) with Christ’s call to pledge allegiance to him alone?

In this two-session course, we will approach the subject of Christian nationalism through a Wesleyan lens. The first session will frame our Wesleyan theology and identify elements of Christian nationalist thought in our U.S. context. The second session will explore the driving forces behind our current religious and political environments, and our responsibility as those who do not belong to the world (John 17:16), but are sent into it to represent Christ (2 Cor 5:20). This class will be taught by Rev. Dr. Joey Shelton, a United Methodist pastor with 10 years of experience practicing law, 9 years teaching in higher education, and 19 years pastoring rural and urban United Methodist congregations.

Pathways is a discipleship program designed to help you grow in faith no matter where you are in your walk with Jesus. If you are ready to deepen your relationship with God through intentional prayer, study, and service, Pathways is for you! This program consists of three paths – green, blue, and red – designed for the different stages of the Christian life. We hope that everyone at The Peak, whether you are brand new to faith or a lifelong Christian, will participate in Pathways and emerge from each path having moved further and deeper into the presence of God.

To determine which path is right for you, start by taking the ORDO Faith Assessment. ORDO is not a test; it is a tool to help you locate where you are in your faith now so you can follow the map that leads to where you want to go. The Green Path is for those who:

• Are engaging faith for the first time
• Want to take ownership of the faith instilled by their parents
• Are deconstructing an old faith and reconstructing a new one
• Want to revisit the basics of the Christian life and build a firm foundation of faith

Living Missionally: is all about being the hands and feet of Jesus. We will learn how to identify the gifts and passions God has given us and partner with Jesus to build His Kingdom on earth.

This free event will feature a petting zoo, face painting, bounce houses and trunk or treat. Anyone can sign up to host a trunk and you can easily find decorating kits online!

Are you looking for a safe, fun environment to ask questions about God, the Bible, or different theological beliefs? If so, join Pastors Kyle and Katie for an evening full of good drinks, good people and great conversation. This month’s conversation is all about demons and spiritual warfare. We’ll explore questions like: Is Satan real? What do we mean by “forces of wickedness”? How do we understand human agency and responsibility amidst evil in the world? It’s going to be a lively evening of curiosity and conversation. Bring a friend!

All Saints’ Day is the Sunday when we give God thanks for the saints in our lives who have loved us, raised us, and gone before us in faith. If you have a family member, friend, or loved one who has joined the “great cloud of witnesses,” whether they died recently or many years ago, we would love to honor them in worship on November 1st by displaying their picture in the sanctuary.

Next Steps is a class for anyone who wants to learn more about The Peak. Here, we will explore the mission, vision and values of our congregation. Furthermore, we will discuss ways for you/your family to help make the mission and ministries possible around here!

The class will end with a short service of membership, whereby you will be invited to make vows expressing your commitment to both God and the church. If you have taken a Next Steps Class in the past but did not join then, you can let us know in your registration that you will be arriving at 2:30 pm for the membership service only.

Women+Together ministry invites you to join a yoga class on November 3 at 7 pm. Instructor Brittany Herron will lead this 45 minute class taught in the vinyasa (“breath to movement”) base level class. All skill levels welcomed. Hands on assists and modifications will be available. Brittany also offers options to “level up” for more seasoned participants. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring your own yoga/exercise mat and water.

This is an invite to all our our LGBTQ+ community, allies, and friends. We’ll provide the main dishes and you can bring sides or desserts!

Advent is a season of anticipation and preparation as we await our coming Savior. Amidst the busyness of the holiday season, this 4-week Bible study is an opportunity to slow down, be present, and connect with the One whose birth we celebrate at Christmas. Each week’s lesson stands alone, so please feel free to participate even if you can’t make it every Tuesday.

Join us for a festive evening of Christmas fun for the whole family. The event will feature performances by members of the worship band and kids in our children’s ministry, as well as Christmas craft stations, hot cocoa and cookies, a gingerbread house competition, and more!

Our Pre-K through 5th-grade students are invited to participate in the performance! Pre-K & Kindergarten students will sing Christmas Carols, while the rest of our students will star in a Christmas pageant. Be on the lookout for the rehearsal schedule in the upcoming months.

Wear your tackiest, weirdest, wildest Christmas attire to celebrate the season.

The holiday season is filled with so much joy, but it can also touch the most tender places of our hearts. If you are experiencing grief, loss, loneliness, or sadness this Christmas, join us for an evening of hope and comfort on the longest, darkest night of the year. Drop in briefly or stay awhile for some music, Scripture, and prayer to nourish your weary soul.

We will hold kid-focused and candlelight services again this year. We will release service times and information on how you can reserve your spot in November.
