In episode 4 of Views, Kyle sits down with principal of Apex Friendship High School and The Peak’s very own, Matthew Wight. Matt has been a principal for a number of schools here in the Apex/Cary area for the last 20 years! He was named “Principal of the Year” a couple of different times not only for his commitment to education, but to our students. You will be hard pressed to find someone who has a better pulse on the challenges our high schoolers are facing today than Matt. In their conversation, Kyle and Matt talk about what it is like to lead students in the era of mass shootings, teenage suicide, anxiety around college admissions, and the saturation of social media. However, probably one of the most fascinating parts of the conversation is when Matt shares what he is learning FROM our students. This next generation is sharp, yall!
