In 2018, we launched our Welcome Home Campaign to raise money for the purchase of our building. Until that point, we had leased the space, but it was time to officially make the building ours. The bank gave us three years to raise the down payment of $350,000, which our congregation pledged, and then some. In fact, we had pledges totaling nearly $539,000, which would allow us to build a “nest egg” and have money for building improvements over time.
In June 2020, we met our initial pledge goal of $350,000 – 16 months earlier than needed! We are so grateful to all of you for your generosity in helping us meet this initial goal. Your faithfulness in our church and the work we are doing keeps our leadership team fueled.
With a little more than a year to go in our Campaign, we want to finish strong! We ask that everyone who initially pledged continue to support the campaign. You may give online at ThePeakChurch.org/give or send your checks to The Peak Church, 1200 North Salem Street, Apex, NC 27502. Please include Welcome Home in the memo line.

History of our Building
In 2010, The Peak Church launched out of Apex UMC. With no building of our own, we set up and tore down every Sunday in the traditional sanctuary. However, momentum began to grow. Our congregation started to expand. More and more disconnected people found a church home within our community, so it was time to find a place of our own.
At roughly the same time, a church in our Apex community closed its doors and became available for sale. Peak leadership saw the building, fell in love with its architecture, and knew that something like this was what we needed to continue to live out our mission. However, being a new church, The Peak was not in a financial position yet to make the purchase.
Then, two families who worshiped at The Peak came forward. They believed so much in the mission and vision of this place – they believed so strongly in the plans God had for The Peak – that they purchased the building and leased it back to the church until we could purchase it on our own. We are thrilled to announce to you that the time has come, and we can’t do it without your help!
Impact on our Mission
It is hard to overstate how much of an impact this building has had upon our mission of “welcoming those who feel disconnected.” Just one year after we moved into our facility at 1200 North Salem Street, our weekly worship attendance jumped from about 75 to more than 150. Now, we welcome more than 300 people on Sunday mornings!
Our building is also the home base from which we are able to launch incredible programs for adults, youth, and children, as well as programs benefiting our neighbors around the world.

Growing up, I never really saw God in my life. I wasn’t sure why, but it was hard for me to find or hear God as a child. I went to Bible school and Sunday school and still, there was an empty space there where it felt like God should be. However, the first time I went to The Peak for myself, it was like a switch was flipped. One second my faith was empty and the next my life was changed permanently. God and the church began to fill that empty spot. Ever since that first time, I’ve found a home at The Peak. I’ve also found a family who loves me just as much as I love them.
The Goal
What’s most exciting about all of this is that we are just starting to scratch the surface of all the plans that God has for our church. Our goal is that by purchasing this facility, we can finally say to those who are already a part of The Peak AND to those disconnected neighbors whom God is preparing us to meet…Welcome Home!
We must secure our home at 1200 North Salem Street by collecting gifts over the next 3 years that will allow us to make a sizable down payment, create a pool for future major repairs, and have monies available for enhancements so that our building can serve our long-term needs. The campaign is structured in three different tiers.
Tier 1: $350,000. Reaching this goal enables us to make a large enough down payment so that our mortgage payment in three years will be the same as our current lease payment.
Tier 2: $400,000. Reaching this goal enables us to make our down payment, PLUS set aside additional funds for any major repairs our building might need in the next 5 to 10 years.
Tier 3: $450,000. Reaching this goal enables us to make our down payment, set aside funds for repairs, AND have additional monies for enhancements to the building to support our mission.

We show up as we are, where we are, as often as we can. We are accepted just like that – without judgment or reservation. Not just the pretty pieces or the bits of us that fit – all four of us, exactly as we are, with gifts and wounds and weirdness. That seems like such a small thing, but it is one of the essential things that makes The Peak a home. We are able to be vulnerable within a crowd of people because other people are also being vulnerable. Nothing feels fake or forced or has lines drawn around it. There is no back room you can’t go into, nor secret handshake required for entry.
