The ministry of spiritual mentoring is designed to help one another pay attention and discern the ongoing movement of God in your life. Mentors are not experts. Rather, they are those whose rich and experienced spiritual journey has enabled them to help others navigate spiritual challenges, grow in their knowledge of God, and deepen their intimacy with Christ.
How do I know if spiritual mentorship is right for me?
You don’t have to be in spiritual crisis in order to benefit from a mentor. In fact, scripture suggests that mentorship is something every Christian should seek at various points in their spiritual journey. Jethro and Moses, Paul and Timothy, Jesus and his disciples all illustrate the importance of being discipled ourselves. It is very common for someone to seek a spiritual mentorship at all levels and stages of their spiritual maturity:
Those who are new to faith
Those experiencing doubt
Those who need new spiritual disciplines
Those whose faith life has gone stale
Those who have theological questions
Those wrestling with their calling (vocation)

Director: Tim Musslewhite
I spent 35 years in pastoral ministry before transitioning to a role as spiritual director and spiritual formation coach with a mission organization twelve years ago. Retired now, but still active as a spiritual director. I am passionate about helping people grow into a deepening love relationship with God. Married to wife, Jill, for 49 years, with 2 adult children and 3 grandchildren. Enjoy playing golf and reading.
Paula Jennings
Hi. I’m Paula Jennings, married to Mike for 24 years, a mother, a “Nana”, a lifelong Christ follower with some trauma, grief and gap years along the way. I’m a retired dietitian/diabetes educator, former Guardian ad Litem foster care advocate, lover of music, and a fledgling poet. At this , shall we say, “elder” age, I continue to learn more about myself and God’s love and grace everyday. It’s been and continues to be a journey.
Angelo Troiano
I’m a small group leader and active member of The Peak Church, passionate about mentorship, spiritual growth, and walking with others in their faith journey. I work as a Project Estimator for the largest Native‑American‑owned construction company in North Carolina. I’ve been married to my wife, Emily, for 12 years, and we have six children. I enjoy strength training, staying active, and cheering for the New York Giants and the Carolina Hurricanes.
Anita Culler
Spent half of my childhood as a Missionary Kid in Brazil, and my career in Radiography working and teaching in local hospitals. Currently, am serving as a small group leader and a childcare worker at The Peak. Have been married to Russell for 28 years with 2 young adult children. We recently retired and enjoy hiking, camping, and gardening.
Mark Moorman
Retired after a long career in food safety, currently serving on the leadership team at Peak Church. Married to high school sweetheart, Dawn, for 40 years, with 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Enjoy playing piano and chasing the grandkids.
Valerie Bromenschenkel
I enjoy volunteering at The Peak as a small group leader and youth retreat chaperone. I work as an educational consultant supporting unique learners. My husband Ken and I live in Pittsboro where we enjoy hosting family and friends. I love reading, crafting, great wine and great company.
Overview: What is spiritual mentorship?
Spiritual mentorship is not therapy or counseling. Rather, think of it as the gift of spiritual companionship. Our mentors are simply those who have a lot of experience navigating the Christian life and want to share the wisdom, perspective and tools they’ve acquired along the way. What you can expect after filling out the interest form is our Director will be in touch about finding the right pairing for you. Mentors generally meet with their mentees once a month. They have been trained in asking you questions, listening deeply about your experience, and then, using our ORDO framework, offering guidance and suggestions for how you can grow deeper in faith!
Please know that all mentor/mentee relationships are held in strict confidentiality. Further, our Director will check in every 3, 6, and 9 months to make sure this mentoring relationship is still serving you well.
